For as much as some may want to stir the pot and suggest Joc Pederson and Yasiel Puig either can’t coexist in the same outfield or refuse to do so, there’s little if any, evidence to support that notion.

Yes, there have been a few instances where the young and athletically gifted outfielders have nearly collided, but there also have been moments where they properly back each other up. Such as when Puig threw out Aramis Ramirez on a ball that landed just out of Pederson’s reach in the gap.

With the Dodgers holding a comfortable lead in the seventh inning against the offensively-challenged New York Mets, Pederson and Puig decided to have some fun. Kevin Plawecki flied out to right-center field to end the inning, which then sparked a foot race back to the dugout between the two outfielders.

The scene was reminiscent of a similar situation last season when Puig and Scott Van Slyke, playing center field, raced back to the dugout in Cincinnati.

  1. He played like the best of all time till he got his big contract. His stats fell like a rock after that. I can tell he’s trying but maybe too hard. He has the natural ability but he must have other things on his mind.
