Dodgers vs Diamondbacks: Betting Odds and Predictions For Friday’s Bullpen Game

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks will kick off a 3-game series this weekend starting tonight in Los Angeles. It should be an interesting matchup between the 2 NL West teams with the Dodgers dealing with a series of issues in their starting rotation. That has led to Dave Roberts once again going with a bullpen game on Friday, the team’s third of the week.

Despite that, the oddsmakers are once again heavily favoring the DOdgers. That’s easy to do when playing a team like Arizona who has compiled a 25-64 record and is throwing a guy making his 6th big league start.

Taylor Widener will get the ball for Arizona, and he was really good before hitting the injured list with a groin strain. This will be his first start since being placed on the injured list in April. Widener has faced the Dodgers just once in his young career, coming on in relief last year.

  • DBacks Odds: +225
  • Dodgers Odds: -275
  • Over/Under: 8.5

Predictions: The Dodgers are throwing a bullpen game, but the All-Star Game is also next week. That means they’re going to have some time to rest those guys after this series. That means they likely won’t have any hesitations running guys out there for this series.

While those crazy odds might have bettors leaning towards Arizona, it’s a tough bet against Los Angeles.

Over or Under? The Dodgers are averaging 5 runs at home while the DBacks are averaging close to 4 per game on the road. That leaves a tight window to break the 8.5 run line, but taking the over seems like an easy bet tonight with the bullpen game.

  1. Anyone else wanna say I’m too negative on the “best team of the decade” and the so called best run team? Because the best run team would never.. NEVER continue using Uceta in these kinds of spots when he fails time and time again.. oh and then guess what else bozo does? Throws in Reed to follow him who ALSO can’t find the zone as we saw in Miami. It’s like he wanted to pick the absolute worst guy for that. The stupidity is just unreal. I used to give Roberts the benefit of the doubt and assume he was a Sabre puppet because I consider him a smart guy, but since he doesn’t have the courage to be honest he deserves to share criticism with Friedman and co

  2. Dodgers didn’t do enough stupidity and insanity the last few days, so they thought they should “double up” at home.

  3. Hit the ball and we sweep miami and win last night, that is not on Roberts. I think Uceta is going back down for awhile. I dont think Grays time has come but he may be in rotarion next year, especiall if Bauer is not invited vack which would really surprise me
