Dodgers Win Tight Game Thanks to Chris Taylor’s Incredible Play
What started out as a blowout ended in a game that came down to one throw on Wednesday. The Dodgers and Padres went toe-to-toe with Los Angeles eventually coming out on top.
The game started with a Joc Pederson homerun in the 2nd inning and the offense kept rolling from there. The Dodgers put up 7 runs in 6 innings and the game looked out of reach from there. But the Padres came storming back and would’ve tied it if not for one of the best double plays you will ever see.

Chris Taylor’s throw to nail Trent Grisham at the plate might be the defensive play of the year for the Dodgers thus far. What could’ve led to the Padres tying the game instead ended the ballgame in favor of Los Angeles.
Kenley Jansen had runners on the corners with just 1 out in the bottom of the 9th inning. Manny Machado hit a hard line drive to Chris Taylor in left who gunned down the would-be tying run at the plate to end it. Understandably so, Dodgers fans went wild across social media.
The throw not only won the game but won took the series for the Dodgers. Starting off with a loss to the Padres on Monday was not a great boost of morale for the fanbase.
The Dodgers hit 2 homeruns in the game, both coming off of the bat of Joc Pederson. He took Garrett Richards deep in the 2nd with a runner aboard to give them the early lead. He hit another in the 6th inning with 2 on off of Luis Patino.
Dodgers: Kenley Jansen Reaches Historic Milestone in His Career
That clutch play by Taylor (and Smith) shows us that the Dodgers are playing at a championship level. Wow! That was sooo rewarding to see them finish that tough game with that kind of mental toughness. Stay tuned.
Beautiful throw by Taylor. Can we transfer this save to Taylor? Maybe we need a new a new baseball term too. Walk off gun down at home plate is probably too long. I would rather see a defensive gem like Taylor’s throw than a walk off home run.
Great throw and right on the money for smith to make the tag. Compliments to Taylor. I think what is lost in all of this though is the pitching of Jensen. He’s been very lucky in all of his saves. He’s no longer dominant his cutter has lost both velocity and movement. Just a matter of time for his collapse but fortunately it appears that the dodgers have a couple arms that might be able to replace him.
Thank the great Dodger in the sky for Chris Taylor saving ours & Kenley’s bacon. Then lets add in it’s a good thing Arte Moreno is an impatient moron. Way to go Joc and Strip!
I have a question for anyone on the web site who may have the answer. Does anyone know why Roberts does not use Seager in the lead off spot in the batting order?
Even though there’s not a typical lead off hitter anymore, I think teams still like a lead off hitter to work the count and take some pitches. Seager is a first pitch swinging type of hitter.
WE MUST WIN A TITLE THIS YEAR NOT ONLY FOR KERSHAW BUT FOR GUYS LIKE TAYLOR, KIKE, TURNER, JOC – WHO MIGHT NOT BE BACK NEXT YEAR – EVEN THOUGH THEY SHOULD BE
