Former Dodger Noah Syndergaard DFA’d By Guardians One Month After Trade

Just one month after being traded away from the Los Angeles Dodgers, former LA pitcher Noah Syndergaard has been designated for assignment by the Cleveland Guardians. He was traded for infielder Amed Rosario before the trade deadline

His struggles continued with Cleveland, posting an ERA of 5.40 over six games. The team decided that it wasn’t worth keeping him down the stretch of the season.

During his time with the Dodgers, he was one of the worst pitchers in the league. He posted an ERA of 7.16 and was ultimately placed on the injured list with a blister issue.

He signed with the Dodgers last offseason to try and improve his game, in order to get a nice payday this winter. LA has been known for its ability to take reclamation projects and turn their careers around. Syndergaard was supposed to be the next in line for the Dodgers “magic”, but things never went the way anyone hoped.

LA put him on the injured list following another rough start against the Cincinnati Reds in early June. He never saw the field again for the Dodgers prior to being dealt.

The former All-Star pitcher has seen better days after a few bad seasons. Now Syndergaard will look to find a new home after a very tough 2023 season. Maybe he can latch on with a team for the final month of the season to help improve his value across the league.

Hopefully, we can see him back on the mound soon, but his future in Major League Baseball remains heavily in doubt going forward.

  1. I recall reading that when Syndergaard was traded he took a swipe at the Dodgers organization – saying they hindered his progression because “There were too many cooks in the kitchen”.
