Former Dodgers Great Steve Sax Auctioning Off World Series, ROY and More Memorabilia

Former MLB second baseman and long-time Dodgers great Steve Sax is one of the good people in baseball. The 5-time All-Star and 2-time World Series champion was also the 1982 NL Rookie of the Year for the Dodgers. Over his 14 year MLB career, Sax picked up plenty of hardware, awards, and accolades. And now, he’s set to auction off more than three dozen items from his Dodgers career for a cause incredibly close to his heart.

A year ago, Sax lost his son, US Marine Capt. John J. Sax in a tragic training flight in the California desert. As a way of honoring the late Captain, Sax is auctioning off his collection of memorabilia to help establish a foundation in honor of his son.

“In continuing to honor the life of a devoted flyer, the Capt. John J. Sax Foundation serves to support those who choose to further their education, exploration and passion for flight dwelling within the hearts of future aviators within the United States of America.”

Steve Sax

Per Spring Premier Auction, here’s a list of some of the Dodgers related items up for auction.

Sax has consigned both his 1981 and 1988 World Series rings won with the Dodgers to SCP, as well as his player trophies from those titles. He also is offering up each of his five MLB All Star rings. A memorable moment in Sax’s career was when he stood in the on-deck circle as Kirk Gibson hit his legendary Game 1 home run off Dennis Eckersley during the 1988 World Series. Sax’s game worn, signed and inscribed jersey from that game will also be offered at auction. Many more mementos from his career are a part of the Steve Sax Collection.

The collection can be found on the SCP website here.
