Former Dodgers OF AJ Pollock Released by San Francisco Giants
Former Dodgers outfielder AJ Pollock is now searching for a new home. He was recently released by the San Francisco Giants after appearing in just five games with the team.
Pollock has bounced around a little bit since the Dodgers decided to move on from him before the start of last season. They traded him to the Chicago White Sox for closer Craig Kimbrel in what was seen as a move to break up the large number of outfielders that LA had.
He began to decline with the White Sox last season and just hasn’t been the same level of player since leaving LA.
Pollock was solid during his time with the Dodgers, helping them win the 2020 World Series. The outfielder provided LA with leadership and a good bat during his time with the team. He just couldn’t stay healthy consistently, which has been an issue throughout his career.
On the season, Pollock .165 with five home runs and 15 runs batted in. He appeared in games for both the Seattle Mariners and Giants this season.
While he may not find a new place to play this season, Pollock could still land on a team outside the playoff picture for next season. He isn’t eligible for the postseason, which likely limits his level of production for this season. But maybe he can provide a young team with some leadership over the last few weeks of the year.
After the poor year that he just had, he will likely have to sign a minor league-level deal with whomever he lands with.
Hopefully, Pollock can find somewhere else to continue playing for next season, even if he just stays in shape as he waits for the offseason.
