Former Dodgers Pitcher Noah Syndergaard Drawing Interest From Padres
Former Los Angeles Dodger starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard could find himself back in the National League West next season.
Syndergaard recently threw a bullpen session for over half of the MLB teams, and is drawing interest from the division-rival San Diego Padres, according to Robert Murray of FanSided.
“He’s a candidate to receive a one-year, prove-it deal and is drawing interest from the San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates, among others, sources say.”

Syndergaard is coming off the worst season of his career. He spent the first half of the 2023 season with the Dodgers, before being traded to the Cleveland Guardians at the deadline for Amed Rosario. Syndergaard lasted just six starts in Cleveland before being designated for assignment.
The former All-Star posted a 1-4 record in Los Angeles with an abysmal 7.16 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 38 strikeouts in 12 starts. He threw just 55.1 innings, allowing batters to hit .313 against him.
In Cleveland, Syndergaard wasn’t much better, sporting a 5.40 ERA in 33.1 innings.
Syndergaard is a far cry from the All-Star version of himself in 2016 when he had a 2.60 ERA in 183.2 innings. However, at just 31 years old, it’s not too late to resurrect his career. We’ll see if San Diego gives him that opportunity.

If San Diego is thinking of bringing in Syndergaard then they are truly hurting for pitching. The only way I would ever give him a contract would be as a closer. He just doesn’t have the gas anymore to be a starter. I think most of his problems are in his head following his injury and it is sad to see…
