Former Dodgers Rival Jake Peavy in Awe of What Tyler Glasnow Can Do With The Baseball

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow made his first Cactus League start for the Dodgers on Saturday. As one of the Dodgers’ big offseason signings heading into 2024, there will be a lot expected from Glasnow this season.

The 30-year-old pitcher has spent his major league career with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays since making his major league debut in 2016. However, he has yet to put it all together.

Part of that has been injuries, which includes a Tommy John surgery that caused him to miss the majority of 2022.

Even without having broken out, Glasnow’s upside and talent are among the best in the league. That’s a huge reason why the Dodgers signed him to a five-year, $136.5 million contract in December after trading for him and Manuel Margot in exchange for Ryan Pepiot and Jonny DeLuca.

The Dodgers aren’t the only ones who believe in Glasnow. Many across the MLB world do, including former Dodger rival Jake Peavy.

“You know what, he is an ace, absolutely. I want to see it happen to badly Steve, because I love Tyler Glasnow. When you go get around this kid, he’s tall, he’s built like a greek god. When you watch these bullpen sessions of what he’s able to do, manipulate the baseball.”

At six-foot-eight, Glasnow is not just talented but has a unique build, as Peavy pointed out. He has yet to reach the peaks of his full ability, but the Dodgers believe he can do so with the team.

Glasnow got his first test Saturday when he made his first start as a Dodger against the Los Angeles Angels. Later, he is expected to get one of the Dodgers’ first two starts of the season in their Seoul Series opening games. He has the talent, but now he needs to stay healthy and get it done.
