Freddie Freeman News: Dodgers Star Talks About How Much Playing in WBC Means for Him

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman has been named the best first baseman in the recent World Baseball Classic. The WBC, held every four years, is an international baseball tournament featuring top players from around the world competing for their respective countries. Due to the pandemic, the last event that took place was back in 2017.

Freeman is a native of Fountain Valley, California, but both of his parents are from Ontario, Canada. In a recent interview, he spoke about how much the tournament means to him, as he continues to honor his mother who passed away when he was 10 years old.

Freeman last appeared in the WBC in 2017 with Canada, where they went 0-3, with one of their losses against the United States.

The 33-year-old is no stranger to success on the field. He has been a mainstay in the Major Leagues for over a decade and is a six-time All-Star and a Gold Glove winner. In 2020, Freeman also won the National League Most Valuable Player Award after leading the major leagues with 23 doubles and 51 runs scored.

Representing your country is something special for every player.  The WBC has become one of the premier international baseball tournaments, attracting top talent from around the world. It has been praised for its high level of play and for bringing together players from different countries.

For Freeman, being a part of the WBC was not only a great experience but also a great opportunity to showcase his skills on a global stage. His performance in the league has surely solidified his status as one of the best first basemen in the game.

As Freeman returns to the Dodgers for the upcoming season, he will look to continue his success and lead his team back to the World Series. With his dominant performance in the WBC, he has shown that he has what it takes to be a leader beyond the Dodgers clubhouse.
