Freddie Freeman Reveals His Favorite Part of Playing for Dodgers Over Braves

After spending his first 11 seasons with the Braves, Freddie Freeman will always be a legend in Atlanta. Even though he had a Hall of Fame career already with one team, Freeman is putting up his best stats ever in his second season with the Dodgers.

Even though he will always be grateful for the city of Atlanta, Freeman does have his reasons why he prefers Los Angeles.

The main reason why Freeman signed with the Dodgers in the first place was to be closer to his family. The Dodgers first baseman grew up in Orange County which is only an hour away from Dodger Stadium.

Now that he is closer to home, Freeman is reaping the benefits. His parents are able to watch every one of his games if they want, which they didn’t have the luxury of doing in Atlanta.

In a conversation with Kirsten Watson for Sportsnet LA, Freeman revealed that his entire immediate family was at last week’s game against the Athletics. The Dodgers won 8-2 and Freeman was 3-5 with a home run.

After spending the night at Dodger Stadium, Freeman’s family couldn’t stay away from him. As the Dodgers had a weekend series in San Diego, the Freemans made the trip.

“My dad drove me down to San Diego today, so those are the little moments that I haven’t been able to have over the last 12-13 years, that I have had in the past two years,” said Freeman.

Family is very important to Freeman. His son Charlie is consistently on the field with his dad pregame and his wife is always at games supporting him.

Freeman realizes that as he gets older the opportunities to be with family start to fade away.

“Family is everything to me. Those extra minutes that I can get with my dad and the family has definitely made these past two years special,” said Freeman.
