Freddie Freeman Reveals His Personal Goal for Dodgers’ 2024 Season
Freddie Freeman has accomplished plenty throughout his illustrious MLB career. A seven-time All-Star, World Series champion, Gold Glove winner and a Hank Aaron award winner as the best hitter in the league, the Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman has done practically everything.
However, there is one goal he has on his radar heading into the 2024 season. Freeman wants to strike out less than 100 times this season, via The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. Considering Freeman’s other goal is playing every day, he would have to average less than one strikeout per game to make this a reality.
Freeman has gotten close to this goal on several occasions through his 14-year MLB career. In his first season with the Dodgers in 2022, he had 102 strikeouts in 159 games. The year before with the Atlanta Braves in 2021, Freeman had 107 strikeouts in 159 games. Freeman has had a couple of seasons with just 95 strikeouts (2017) and 98 strikeouts (2015), but didn’t play enough games to make it as impressive.
Freeman is certainly capable of reaching this feat as someone who excels at putting the ball in play.
And he’s already looked good early in spring and especailly on Wednesday, hitting a grand slam in the Dodgers’ 12-9 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Still, Freeman’s primary goal is just to be healthy and play in all 162 games this season. While getting struck out less than 100 times would be great, the most important thing is for him to be available for the Dodgers all year long.
