Freddie Freeman is Ready To Embrace Extra Attention On Dodgers This Season
Freddie Freeman has played on star-studded teams in the past – both with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves. However, nothing compares to the media storm that has engulfed the Dodgers clubhouse this season.
Freeman spoke with MLB Network Radio and said, “The media attention means something good happened in our offseason. The excitement is real.”
He’s right. The added media attention came with the Dodgers’ spending $1.3 billion this offseason adding elite players like Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
He lightheartedly touched on the increased number of cameras in the parking lot as each player drives up in the morning. Photos of massive media scrums have surfaced surrounding most of the players – primarily Ohtani and Yamamoto.
While this type of attention can increase pressure on a team, Freeman mentions that there’s already pressure when putting on a Dodger uniform. He says there are expectations to be met and it’s easier to drown out the media noise once inside the clubhouse.
The Dodgers no doubt have a magnifying glass on them this season. With a lineup featuring three former MVPs and a revamped starting rotation, people want to see how the Dodgers perform when it matters most.
