Kourtney Turner Shares Positive Update on Injured Former Dodger Justin Turner

The greater Dodger family was shocked and saddened by the injury sustained by Justin Turner on Monday morning. The All-Star was hit in the face by an up and in fastball out of the hand of Tigers starter Matt Manning. JT began bleeding almost immediately but was thankfully able to walk off the field under his own power.

The update came that he was taken to a local hospital where Turner’s wife Kourtney shared the update.

Thank you to everyone that reached out about Justin and sent prayers. We’re home now and he’s resting (okay – maybe listening to the replay of the game). 16 stitches and a lot of swelling but we are thanking God for no fractures & clear scans.

The veteran infielder lucked out, having sustained no facial fractures, according to Kourtney. Thankfully just 16 stitches and some rest and recovery for the new Boston Red Sox star, Justin Turner.

Why Did Justin Turner Leave the Dodgers?

The long-time Dodger joined the Red Sox this offseason after he and the club couldn’t come together on a deal. Turner spent the last nine seasons with LA, earning two All-Star berths while cementing himself as one of the premier hitters in the game. His bat-to-ball skills and veteran leadership helped the club secure the first World Series title in three decades in 2020.

Turner signed with the Red Sox one day after the Dodgers signed slugger J.D. Martinez to a one year, $10 million deal.

Our thoughts continue to go out to JT for a speedy recovery!

  1. Just 16 stitches in his face? Just? I guess it could have been much worse, but still, I wouldn’t use the word just.
