Miguel Rojas Breaks Silence Following Dodgers NLDS Loss

Infielder Miguel Rojas returned to the Dodgers this past season after he was acquired over the offseason, and he seemed to enjoy himself throughout the year. He was brought in as more of a depth piece, but an injury to Gavin Lux opened up things for him to be the everyday shortstop.

For most of the season, Rojas didn’t do much offensively, but in the final part of the season, he started to pick it up. He brought other factors to the team, such as leadership and defense, which kept him on the field.

It was a necessary part of the team this season, and unfortunately, we didn’t get to see how things played out deep into the postseason. LA was swept out of the NLDS by the Arizona Diamondbacks, and their season was cut short once again.

The entire season the Dodgers overcame obstacle after obstacle, but they couldn’t overcome their offense going cold in the postseason. It was a disappointing few games for this team, and Rojas did collect two hits during the series.

The LA infielder broke his silence with a social media post, and he thanked the fans for welcoming him back this season.

It was a nice gesture from Rojas, and it was great to see him producing more down the stretch of the season. He is on the books for five million next season, and with any luck, he will be a strong depth option for this team.

The hope is that Lux can return to the team next season, and Rojas can be more of a platoon player. His value to the team can’t be overstated, but he is better suited to be more of a bench player at this point in his career.

  1. Perfect example of why the Dodgers are sitting the rest of the post-season out. Even during the prior year, if the top of the order was flat the bottom of the order rarely picked up slack. Amed was under utilized but this team was never built to win more than the pennant, nor was it managed to expect different results.

  2. The reason the Dodgers got swept was starting pitching. Our starters gave up 13 earned runs. It’s true”good pitching beats good hitting”.
Clayton Kershaw was the only starting pitcher left that began the season, and we know he isn’t what he used to be. After that you have Lance Lynn and four rookies with half a season of big league experience.
That coupled with the 1 for 17 from the top two hitters equals a sweep from the lowly Diamondbacks.
    Sucks doesn’t it!

  3. Rojas leadership skills leads me to believe that he will be a very good manager when he retires.
