Superstar shortstop Mookie Betts, who declined an invite to The White House under President Trump in 2019, said he is undecided about going in two weeks, via Jack Harris of the LA Times.

Betts said he will talk it over with his family before making a decision.

In 2019, Betts was among 10 Red Sox players to decline the invitation to The White House under President Trump. The team’s manager, Alex Cora, didn’t attend either.

“I won’t be going there,” Betts told the Boston Globe at the time. “I decided not to.”

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts hinted at not attending The White House back in 2019 if the Dodgers won the World Series.

“We have to win it first,” Roberts said then. “But one trip to D.C., playing the Nationals, is plenty for me.”

This time around, though, Roberts said he will be in attendance.

“It’s certainly a huge honor to get the invitation to the White House. It allows us to celebrate our 2024 championship. To my understanding, every World Series champion gets that honor,” Roberts said Tuesday. “I respect the position. It’s the highest office in our country certainly, in the world. So I’m looking forward to it.”

The Dodgers will visit The White House on April 7, and members of the team will visit Capitol Hill on April 8.

“In keeping with long-standing baseball tradition, President Trump has invited the 2024 World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers to the White House when they play in Washington D.C. on April 7,” the Dodgers wrote on X. “The Dodgers look forward to visiting the White House and celebrating our title. In addition, members of the Dodgers will visit Capitol Hill on April 8.”

  1. LOL!!! GOOD! STAY HOME! His choice.
So stupid! He’d rather have corrupt democrats in the White house running the country. LOL!!!

    1. If Mookie decides not to go to the WH, then he’s dead to me. The ultimate disrespect. “Go sleep with the fishes.”

      1. After all the nasty insults and name calling and unfiltered false witness issued thousands of times by the current POTUS, including attacks against current and past POTUSs, Betts not willing to kiss the king’s ring is the “ultimate disrespect”? I think there is a problem with priorities here.

    2. Actually it IS his choice; that’s what freedom’s about.
Politics is pretty corrupt, period, Alu.
Both parties attend to the trough.
Q: Would you go to the WH if it had a “corrupt” Democrat as POTUS?
If not, then you’d be no better.
      Just Sayin’

  2. The Dodgers as a team are going to the WH. I’m very unpleasantly surprised that Mookie might not go. Trump was elected because Biden & Harris were mainly incompetent and their policies were detrimental to America & and the whole world. Besides, this visit shouldn’t be about politics. Think, Mookie!

  3. I hope Mookie chooses to go and remembers it’s a team game so he would not be going for himself but would be going to support his team and fans that supported and helped him win the Championship.

  4. I don’t know, Guys. McDonald’s and Taco Bell White Hose Special sounds very tempting.

  5. Larry Bird didn’t attend White House under Reagan when the Celtics won. Why is that not a problem for the MAGA supporters?
