Pair of Dodgers Execs Expected to be Pursued by Red Sox This Offseason

Though the Dodgers and Red Sox normally have little in common, Boston’s GM responsible for bringing the leading NL MVP candidate in 2023 to LA recently was relieved of his duties in their front office.

Looking to replace Chaim Bloom after his tenure that included trading Mookie Betts to the Dodgers ahead of the 2020 season, the AL East team may look to LA’s front office for their goals this time around rather than their prospect pool.

Among the top organizations utilizing analytics paired with their beneficial big market, many teams are hoping the emulate both sides of the Dodgers’ machine that’s led to their last decade of dominance over the NL West.

Byrnes already has ties to Boston after serving in their front office for three seasons before taking general manager jobs in the NL West with both Arizona and San Diego.

A return to Fenway could be very possible after he’s been with the Dodgers since 2015 and he could want a new challenge as Andrew Friedman has been the top front office executive for a number of years.

Gomes is in a similar position as he transitioned from a role as a reliever in MLB to a player development leader for Los Angeles.

Promoted to GM at the start of 2022, Gomes could take off for a bigger seat on the East Coast as a potential candidate as well.

Leaders in their methods and the embrace they’ve given to their approach to the game, it’s hard to say the Dodgers organization hasn’t been cutting edge in how they run the franchise.

The mentality shared by Friedman has obviously trickled down to other front office executives to give them enough attractive qualities to be considered for bigger posts elsewhere.

Even if fans will miss their presence in their role of player development into the great Dodger machine, the idea that many will try to copy the team’s methods should be a compliment to the organization as a whole.
