Shohei Ohtani Rumors: 3 Top Dodgers Competitors Officially Out of Running for Two-Way Superstar

The winter of two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani is in full swing, and with the winter meetings coming up next week, we may be close to a decision. Ohtani has been courted all over the league, but his team has been very secretive about his intentions. The Dodgers remain the favorite to land the free agent, but there are a few other teams that have positioned themselves nicely as well. However, we got a big update on the Ohtani sweepstakes from one of the game’s biggest insiders.

MLB insider Jeff Passan of ESPN is reporting that three of the top competitors for Ohtani have turned their attention toward other players. This means that they are out of the running, opening the door for LA even more.

“The Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox and New York Mets, who were among the initial group of suitors, have turned their attention to other players, sources said.”

Per Jeff Passan of ESPN

Passan is generally in the know about all things baseball, so this is a major update. The Rangers and Red Sox were thought to be some of the biggest competition for Ohtani, so this bodes well for the Dodgers.

The Mets have the deepest pockets in the game, even if money doesn’t mean everything to Ohtani. It’s nice that they are out, and the Dodgers should be able to outbid everyone else if it were to come down to that.

But LA is still one of the only places around baseball that gives Ohtani everything that he wants. They can realistically sell him on the chance to win the World Series every season, and he would be able to stay in Southern California, a place he loves.

While it remains to be seen where Ohtani will ultimately land, the Dodgers are doing their best to get him this time around. They have wanted him in Dodger Blue for a long time now, and they feel very confident about their chances to make it happen.

  1. Ohtani out for the entire 2024 season? That is what I’ve read and heard from many sources. Maybe he should take a pay cut for 2024, Then let his contract take off full pop in 25. I have heard a 500 million contract is what he wants, WOW! I think id let him go to another team. With that money you could buy a few players with that money. I dunno what gonna happen but id like to see the Dodgers sign him but not 500 million. Anyway if you know more information bring it out.
    Go Blue.

    1. Out for 2024 curious what comic strip you read that info. He won’t pitch if that is we hat you read but he will play and hit 40 hrs and 100 RBI’s unless he gets injured. But seriously can you link the “many” comic strips you read this in?
