Shohei Ohtani Rumors: Former Dodgers Pitcher Max Scherzer Trying To Bring Two-Way Superstar To Texas

It’s no secret that the Dodgers will be going after free agent Shohei Ohtani this offseason, and they aren’t the only ones. LA remains the frontrunner to sign the two-way superstar, but other teams are positioning themselves to make a real run at him.

Some of the teams that have been talked about most when it comes to Ohtani, other than the Dodgers, are the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers. Each of these three teams could make the case that they should be the ones to sign Ohtani, and he has expressed an affinity for two of them.

But one team that should scare LA the most could be the Rangers. They are coming off a World Series win, and are looking to continue making a splash. It remains unknown how serious Texas is about landing Ohtani, but former Dodgers starting pitcher Max Scherzer has laid out his recruiting pitch to the two-way superstar while on the Foul Territory show.

It’s a bit ironic that Scherzer is giving Ohtani advice on money considering he took the bag to join the New York Mets in free agency a few years ago over staying with the Dodgers. New York ended up trading him a year and a half later to Texas, where he did his recent winning.

The only thing anyone knows about the free agency of Ohtani is that he wants to win. It has been reported that he isn’t all about the money and that he would rather go to a team that he feels can contend on an early basis.

Texas may check the box for Ohtani there, but they may not be able to afford what it would take to land him. But the Dodgers can check all the boxes for Ohtani, making them a solid option for him this winter.

It’s going to come down to what Ohtani wants this offseason, and since he doesn’t speak to the media much, we won’t likely know anything until he signs. Hopefully, he lands with the Dodgers and can truly contend for a World Series every single season.
