Shohei Ohtani Surprises Everyone, Gives MVP Speech Without Interpreter

Shohei Ohtani has accomplished a lot over his baseball career, earning two unanimous MVPs along the way. But one of the more impressive aspects of him as a person is his drive to overcome any obstacles in his way.

He is wired differently than most and this has helped him become the superstar that he is today. Ohtani accepted his MVP award for the 2023 season on Saturday evening and pulled out some surprises within his speech.

Not only did Ohtani do his entire speech in English, but he did it without interpreter Ippei Mizuhara. Mizuhara normally accompanies Ohtani during any public speaking situations for him, so it was a surprise that he wasn’t on stage.

Ohtani has normally been hesitant to do these types of speaking events in English, but it seems that he is trying to learn more. It was an awesome moment for Ohtani and the entire baseball community.

He is the face of baseball, so for him to even attempt this means a lot. Ohtani was already very popular, but now that should only continue to grow. He even thanked the Dodgers organization in the speech, showing his excitement to be a member of the team.

“To the Dodgers organization for believing in me, I’m looking forward to this next phase in my career.”

It was an incredible night for Ohtani, and it has made fans even more excited to see him play this coming season. We can all hope that Ohtani will be accepting the MVP award again next season, but this time after a great season with the Dodgers.
