Spring Training Preview: Huff On The Mound, Guerrero Starts At Third

In their first full-squad game since Thursday, the Los Angeles Dodgers face the Cleveland Indians and 2014 American League Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber for the second time this spring.
The Dodgers mustered just one run against Kluber in his three innings of work in the first meeting, which was played at Goodyear Ballpark. Countering Kluber is non-roster invitee David Huff, who starts in place of Hyun-jin Ryu.
Ryu was recently diagnosed with a shoulder inflammation and didn’t resume throwing until Sunday. Huff, whose chances of making the roster out of camp increases with every injury, has pitched well in three outings so far this spring.
This will be the second start for the UCLA grad, as he’s allowed just one run in 5.2 innings. The 30 year old could solidify himself as Ryu’s replacement if the Korean native misses the start of the season.
Sunday’s lineup includes the organization’s two top hitting prospects, Joc Pederson and Corey Seager. Pederson, the likely favorite for the starting center fielder job, is batting .472/.513/.833 this spring with four doubles and a team-leading three home runs.
Seager, who was sent to Minor League camp four days ago, leads the team with six walks this spring.
Yasiel Puig returns to the lineup as the designated after playing Friday, but not Saturday in San Antonio. Alex Guerrero makes another start at third base, after spending some time at shortstop and left field this spring. Guerrero is hitting .345 with a pair of home runs in 29 at-bats.
