Corey Seager is a professional baseball player who currently plays as a shortstop for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on April 27, 1994, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and grew up in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Seager was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first round of the 2012 MLB draft, and he made his MLB debut in September 2015.
He quickly established himself as one of the top young players in the league, winning the National League Rookie of the Year award in 2016. Seager has been named to two All-Star teams, and he was a key member of the Dodgers team that won the World Series in 2020. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the World Series after hitting .400 with two home runs and five RBIs in the series.
Seager is known for his excellent hitting ability, as well as his strong defensive skills at shortstop. He has a career batting average of .295, with 80 home runs and 325 RBIs in 634 games played (as of the end of the 2022 season).
