Trending Up:

Yasiel Puig: Since being activated from the disabled list on June 6, Puig has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball.

In 23 plate appearances this week (five starts), he reached base 12 times — collecting 10 hits and drawing two walks. Of the 10 hits, three went for extra bases (one home run and two doubles). Overall, his batting line for the season sits at a stellar .357/.438/.557.

Howie Kendrick: Starting in all six games this week, Kendrick recorded eight hits in 27 at-bats (.296 batting average), including a home run and double.

In Wednesday’s contest, his walk-off single in the ninth inning helped complete a three-game sweep of the Diamondbacks. For the year, his slash line improved to .285/.340/.430 with another nice showing.

Zack Greinke: Making one start this week, Greinke continued his career-long dominance at Petco Park.

Though he was tabbed with a tough-luck loss, he was solid, allowing nine baserunners (eight hits, one walk) and two earned runs while striking out seven batters over eight innings. Ultimately, the dagger was Justin Upton’s solo home run in the eighth inning with two outs. All-in-all, Greinke’s ERA and WHIP remain solid on the year at 1.95 and 0.97, respectively.

Honorable Mentions:

Mike Bolsinger: In two starts this week, one against his former team, the Diamondbacks, and the other against the Padres, Bolsinger totaled 11.2 innings, allowing nine hits, four earned runs, and recorded 15 strikeouts.

Andre Ethier: Appearing in all six games (five starts), Ethier batted .350 with two home runs, one triple, and seven total hits in 20 at-bats.

Yasmani Grandal: Picking up five starts this week, Grandal slugged two home runs, one against the Padres on Saturday, and reached base seven total times.
