Trevor Bauer Showed Out Against Dodgers in Independent Team Start
Former Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer took the mound against his former team today at the Camelback Ranch backfields. He played with the Asian Breeze, an independent travel team that helps players get recognized by scouts by having them play against minor leagues from MLB teams.
Bauer has been looking to get himself back into the majors for a while now and made his case on Sunday. He dominated the Los Angeles minor-leaguers, going three scoreless innings while striking out four batters.
If this was a showcase to potential MLB teams, he certainly made an impression. Bauer had a message for any interested parties after his performance.
“Hopefully people will remember I’m still one of the best pitchers in the world.”
His warm-up routine drew a lot of attention, as some may have been waiting for this moment to evaluate him further. Bauer has been playing overseas in Japan recently, working his way toward the majors.
It remains to be seen if Bauer will ultimately get another chance to pitch in the big leagues, but this showing likely didn’t hurt his chances. Many scouts were on hand, so only time will tell.
