Tweets Of The Night: Adrian Gonzalez Walks Off, Brian Wilson Wins
The Dodgers were unable to complete the sweep at the expense of the Arizona Diamondbacks, but tonight they got the opportunity to beat their arch rival San Francisco Giants in the first game of a four-game series.
On the mound for the Dodgers was Zach Greinke and he faced a very weak Giants lineup. Greinke was in search of his 15th win of the season and this matchup favors him as he hasn’t lost since the last week in July. Greinke has a 2.81 ERA, so the Giants had their hands full with the NL Pitcher of the Month for August.
Matt Cain was on the mound for the Giants and he has been struggling all season. Cain has a 4.32 ERA and has only one win in his last five starts. With the lack of run support and the potential of the Dodgers’ offense, this was not a favorable matchup for Cain.
With the St. Louis Cardinals tying the Dodgers for the second seed in the National League, all the regular starters were on the field for the Dodgers tonight.
