Tyler Glasnow Has Always Wanted to Play for the Dodgers, His ‘Dream Team’

Not every player gets to play for their hometown team during their careers, and, in fact, some actually avoid it. The extra pressure to perform well is real, but, for others, it’s as meaningful as ever. New Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow will get to suit up for his hometown club going forward. He was traded to L.A. from the Tampa Bay Rays, and couldn’t be happier.

Glasnow is from Southern California, so being traded to the Dodgers is a dream come true for him.

“It’ll be an awesome experience to play with my dream team and see my family more,” Glasnow said to the media via Zoom on Monday.

The Dodgers are very excited to have Glasnow on their team, as he will be their front-line starter going forward. He signed a five-year extension with the club.

Glasnow admitted that the Dodgers were a team that he had always wanted to play for. He said that he used to go to games when he was a kid, and now he will get to live out a lifelong dream.

“This is somewhere I’ve wanted to be my entire life,” Glasnow said. “They were very bullish on trying to get me, and I appreciate the fact they thought so highly of me. I get to go home. It’s like the best possible scenario.”

When Glasnow takes the mound for the Dodgers for the first time at Dodger Stadium, it’s going to be a very special moment for the right-hander. He now gets the chance to help his childhood team compete for a World Series title, and as he says, it’s a full circle moment for himself.

“So, the fact that it’s come full circle … it definitely gives me butterflies. I’m extremely excited to finally go and get my first start at home as a Dodger.”

The Dodgers are hoping for big things from their new right-hander this coming season. The two sides want to bring another title to Los Angeles, and if Glasnow can help make it happen, it would mean everything to him.
