VIDEO: Yasiel Puig Breaks Bat On Check-Swing Vs. Brewers

Yasiel Puig is known for his highlight plays, entertaining antics and freakish athleticism.

In the seventh inning of the Los Angeles Dodgers matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, Puig did something that is rarely seen in baseball. The 23-year-old broke his bat in two pieces when trying to hold back a swing.

At first look, it appeared as if Puig had maybe tipped the pitch and it was enough to break the bat; however, on second look, it was clear that Puig never made contact with the baseball and that he simply broke the bat in two with sheer strength.

SportsNet LA commentator Orel Hershiser said he’s only seen that happen once before with former Kansas City Royals’ outfielder Bo Jackson. Puig has often drawn comparisons to Jackson because of his size and natural ability, and this just adds to that comparison.
