Watch: Shohei Ohtani Takes Live Batting Practice for First Time at Dodgers Camp, Hits Home Run

The day has finally arrived.

After almost a week of Shohei Ohtani being on the schedule to take live batting practice, only to later not be on the field, Ohtani was finally out there on Monday facing live pitching.

Ohtani faced Ryan Brasier, Blake Treinen and J.P. Feyereisen on Monday.

In his first at-bat against Brasier, Ohtani saw five pitches, and took them all, merely just tracking pitches. Here’s video of that at-bat, courtesy of Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

In his second at-bat against Treinen, Ohtani swung at a few pitches. He fouled one off his foot, and later struck out on the fifth pitch. Here’s a video of that at-bat, courtesy of Jack Harris of the LA Times.

In his third at-bat against Feyereisen, Ohtani figured things out, crushing a home run to center field. Here’s a video, courtesy of Harris.

Overall, Ohtani saw 15 pitches, and swung at four of them. This was Ohtani’s first time facing live pitching after putting on a show in multiple batting practices last week.

He won’t play in the Dodgers’ Cactus League opener against the San Diego Padres on Thursday.
