Why is Will Smith Out of the Dodgers Lineup Again?
Dodgers catcher Will Smith is missing from the lineup for the second game in a row. Why is he out of the lineup? On Friday, manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Smith was dealing with an undisclosed illness and that he wasn’t sure when he’d be ready to return to the lineup.
The 28-year-old is hitting .333 with 3 home runs and 12 runs batted in this season. In games where he doesn’t start, the Dodgers are 1-4. He was completely unavailable on Friday leading Doc to name Max Muncy as his backup catcher.
Before Saturday’s game, Roberts provided an update on the catcher.
“He’s just not feeling well. My plan, my hope is he’ll be back in the lineup tomorrow. This is just a being sick kind of thing, nothing physical like tissue.”

Hopefully Will can get back in the lineup on Sunday or at most be ready to go against the visiting New York Mets on Monday at the latest.
