Yankees Pitcher Responds to Dodgers’ Trash Talk After World Series
After winning the World Series, several Dodgers debriefed the postseason on a roundtable on the podcast “On Base with Mookie Betts”. Max Muncy, Walker Buehler, Michael Kopech, Tommy Edman, and Chris Taylor were among those who joined Betts on the episode.
The Dodgers gave the inside scoop on their run to the eighth World Series title in franchise history. However, the team received backlash regarding negative comments about the New York Yankees.

New York’s subpar defense in the fifth inning of Game 5 of the World Series was a hot topic as they allowed Los Angeles to come back from a five-run deficit. Specifically, Taylor said, “We’re all kind of thinking it — (the Yankees) kind of (crapped) down their leg.”
Although some of the comments were harsh, Yankees starting pitcher Luis Gil did not take it personally. In fact, he is already looking ahead to the future.
“That’s just part of baseball,” Gil said on Foul Territory through his interpreter Rafa Nieves when asked about the trash talking. “There’s still a lot of baseball to play ahead of them. This is just one year, and there’s many years to come.”
The 2024 American League Rookie of the Year has a history of perseverance in spite of failure. After missing the entire 2023 season recovering from Tommy John surgery, Gil was demoted to the minor leagues three weeks before Opening Day of the 2024 season.
By October, he made his postseason debut against the Cleveland Guardians in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series. He started against the Dodgers in Game 4 of the World Series, contributing to the Yankees’ dominant 11-4 victory. Overall in the postseason, Gil logged a 6.75 ERA while striking out four batters across eight innings.

I’m a long time Dodger fan and I’m embarrassed by the comments the boys made. The Los Angeles Dodgers are an elite organization with a lot of class. Champions should not be chastising the opponents but take the high road. After all it can happen to them then the whole MLB will be laughing at them. They call that “Bachi”
Keep your comments positive and be humble.
I basically agree that trashing the Yankees was not a cool move but as far as I’ve heard it was just two players that did that. One of them is unlikely to return to the Dodgers. This whole thing is being blown out of proportion!
The Yankees imploded in that one inning. Judge dropping the liner was the catalyst. And it is the truth. They shit the bed. I’m calling it long over-due Karma…..and I love it!
