Blake Snell Has a Picture of Clayton Kershaw in His Locker at Dodgers Camp

Another layer of Blake Snell’s admiration of Clayton Kershaw has been added to his locker.

Snell, who signed a five-year, $182 million deal with the Dodgers right before Thanksgiving, revealed he has a photo of Kershaw in his locker at Camelback Ranch.

“It’s there for a reason,” Snell said when asked about it.

Snell has been vocal about his respect for Kershaw since he signed his deal with the Dodgers. He even made a request to have their lockers next to each other.

“I can’t wait. I was telling Andrew (Friedman) I need my locker next to his,” Snell told AM 570. “He’s just done so many amazing things in his career. So for me to talk to him, pick his brain, learn from all his experience, I’m really excited. To learn from a guy like that is, I mean, you can’t ask for more.”

Snell, who joined the San Francisco Giants late last spring on March 28 and missed most of training camp, is confident he’ll be ready for the season this time around.

The lefty is happy with his fastball command, which is already ahead of where it was at this point last year. Snell struggled in the first half of the 2024 season, going 0-3 with a 6.31 ERA, but he turned things around after the All-Star break, going 5-0 with a 1.45 ERA and striking out 103 batters in 68.1 innings.

Joining Los Angeles has been surreal for Snell. He’s surrounded by talent and doesn’t have to worry about pitching against the defending World Series champions.

“It’s just something you want to be part of,” Snell said of joining the Dodgers.

“Look at the first three hitters in the lineup, it’s tough to go against. So to be on the other side and know they’re going to be hitting for me… yeah, pretty exciting.”

Snell’s hope is to spend the rest of career in a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform playing alongside some of the best talent the game has ever seen.

“This is where you want to play,” he said. “The goal is to end it here.”
