Chris Taylor Doesn’t Believe What the Dodgers Are Doing is Bad for Baseball

The Los Angeles Dodgers front office constructed one of the best, deepest, and most well-rounded rosters in baseball this offseason. Dodger fans all over the world love this new team and have high expectations for it. Others aren’t so fond of it.

People around the league have deemed it “bad for baseball” considering how much money was spent to field this loaded roster. However, Dodgers utility man Chris Taylor doesn’t understand what all the fuss is about.

Taylor recently spoke to our own Doug McKain, and said he doesn’t feel like what the Dodgers are doing is bad for baseball.

“I don’t think it’s bad for baseball by any means to get some of the best players in baseball on the Dodgers, one of the most popular teams in baseball. Whether you love us or hate us, you enjoy watching us on tv. And we’re just adding to that with guys like Ohtani and Yamamoto and Glasnow and all these high caliber players. So, no, I don’t think it’s bad for baseball at all.”

The Dodgers had the same opportunity as everyone else to land Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto in free agency. Yes, they play in a big market. And yes, they have a huge television deal. But they also have one of the most aggressive ownership groups in all of sports, which is a reason they were able to spend over $1 billion in free agency.

If other fan bases and teams want to be upset, they can take it up with their ownership groups. Everyone had the same opportunity to do what the Dodgers did this offseason. The Dodgers just decided to do it.
