Clayton Kershaw Praises Dodgers Organization After Securing 200th Career Win

Dodgers longtime ace Clayton Kershaw made history on Tuesday, becoming the third pitcher in Dodgers franchise history to reach the 200 wins mark. Kershaw earned the victory on Tuesday, throwing seven shutout innings, and allowing just three hits, zero earned runs and zero walks while striking out nine. He threw 105 pitches to get the job done.

After the game, the Dodgers celebrated Kershaw with a champagne toast in the locker room. Freddie Freeman, Austin Barnes and manager Dave Roberts were among those to speak.

However, Kershaw never likes having the spotlight on him, which is why he praised the Dodgers organization after accomplishing the feat (per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic).

“As far as reflecting, I’m not the greatest at that,” Kershaw said. “But being able to think back about the different groups of guys that I’ve played with, the different division titles that we’ve won, the different regular seasons and all these things, to be able to have this many wins is just a byproduct of all those people that I got to play with. Once again, thankful to be part of this organization, really. That’s all tonight comes down to.”

Kershaw is such a class-act, and always likes putting his teammates first. He made sure to give his teammates all the credit for helping him reach this milestone.

“The goal is to win,” Kershaw said. “That’s why tonight is really cool. Because it’s a team stat, a win. So for me to be able to do that 200 times, is just a product of being on some great teams. That’s why I really like tonight and that’s pretty cool.”

While Kershaw won’t celebrate himself, fortunately, the Dodgers and their fans were able to celebrate him. Kershaw put himself in an exclusive group on Tuesday, and adds another incredible accomplishment to his Hall of Fame resume.

Congratulations again to Clayton on this impressive achievement. Hopefully he has many more wins to come in a Dodger uniform.

  1. who are the other 200 win Dodgers pitchers? That information needs to be in the article. My guess is Drysdale and Sutton.
