Treinen is dealing with forearm tightness and has not pitched since April 13. Phillips was supposed to make a final rehab assignment this weekend, but was recalled earlier than anticipated because of Treinen’s injury.
Phillips was spotted in Arlington with the Dodgers this morning, which hinted toward a roster move.
Phillips sustained a right shoulder injury in the NL Championship Series and was not able to make the World Series roster because of it. He sported a 3.62 ERA across 61 appearances for L.A. last year.
The right-hander tossed a scoreless inning for Triple-A Oklahoma City last week, and manager Dave Roberts revealed the reliever was “antsy” to return.
This spring, Phillips told Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain that he was feeling good despite the late start to camp.
“Physically, right now, I feel 100 percent,” Phillips said. “Now it’s just about building up, starting my bullpen progression, and trying to get as close to game ready as possible.”
In 2023, Phillips had a 2.05 ERA across 62 appearances and a 1.14 ERA across 64 appearances the season prior.
