Dodgers Fans Overwhelmingly Agree LA’s Top Priority is Bullpen Upgrade This Trade Deadline

Dodger fans want the Dodger front office to improve their bullpen.

On a Dodgers Nation poll, 73.7 percent wanted the Dodgers to improve their bullpen.

Unlike in the recent past when the Dodgers have the best bullpen in the Major Leagues, during the 2023 season, the Dodgers’ bullpen have the third worst in the National League. It has only twenty saves. True, the powerful Dodger offense sometimes creates such a large lead that the bullpen doesn’t have an opportunity to earn a save.

Nevertheless, the Dodger bullpen has toiled, particularly in early June. Only Evan Phillips and Shelby Miller, who is currently on the IL with a neck issue, have performed up to expectations.

While the Dodger bullpen has the fifth most strikeouts in the National League, it seems to fans the relievers don’t blow away the opposition, especially in big spots of the game. Brusdar Graterol is the only Dodger reliever who can reach triple digits, but he doesn’t miss bats. It seems every good opposition has at least a reliever who has an unhittable fastball that reaches digits and has movement. Dodger fans are jealous.

Friday, the Dodgers activated Daniel Hudson, and he should help to solidify the bullpen. Before tearing his ACL last June against the Atlanta Braves, Hudson performed well as a high-leverage reliever. The Dodger front office wants to assess which relievers are good within their organization before making a trade.
