Dodgers Fans React to Walker Buehler Being Shut Down for 2023 Season

After months of speculation about a potential return just in time for the postseason, Dodgers ace Walker Buehler will not make an appearance in 2023 in order to fully recover from the second Tommy John surgery of his career.

With the steady progression Buehler had been making, it came as a surprise to many Dodger fans who hoped to see No. 21 pitch in October.

While Buehler’s absence, combined with the potential end of Julio Urias’ career after an alleged domestic violence incident, means that the Dodgers will be shorthanded when it comes to starters with playoff experience, many feel that resting Buehler was a good call.

Regardless, the update from Buehler and the Dodgers did come as a disappointment to many who hoped to see the fan-favorite return to Dodger Stadium this season.

Some thought that the Dodgers’ decision to hold off on bringing Buehler back meant that their postseason hopes would be shattered, despite the fact that LA has gone 26-9 since Aug. 1.

The Dodgers will likely welcome Buehler back to the mound in 2024.
