The Dodgers will welcome the Braves into town tonight for the first time in 2022. That will come with a lot of emotions. Kenley Jansen will make his return to Dodger Stadium for the first time since he signed a free-agent deal with Atlanta, something that should be really interesting to watch play out.
But the drama-filled relationship with the Braves and Freddie Freeman should definitely be a storyline to watch. The Dodgers first baseman spoke openly about his departure from Atlanta during his introductory press conference. That’s when he had some words to say about his last franchise and how he was treated during his free agency.
There were also the surprising words of Ronald Acuna Jr, who said that he wasn’t going to miss Freddie now that he’s with the Dodgers. But despite all of that, it sounds like Freddie is ready to make good with his former organization. He spoke about it with SportsNet LA on Sunday.
“I’m just ready to see ’em. A lot of good memories from playing with them, being able to see Snid [Brian Snitker]. Alex Anthopoulos is going to be here tomorrow so I’m going to meet with him and see him tomorrow. and talk and hug. You know, when you reach the top like we did last year, it’s only positive things coming out of there. I’m just looking forward to seeing all the guys.”
Anthopoulos shed tears when asked about Freddie leaving during Spring Training. Freddie didn’t seem to want to acknowledge those tears when asked about them during his press conference. But the Dodgers infielder seems like he is very ready to hug it out and to move forward.
Freddie had said recently that he was done with all of the drama and done talking about things that had happened. He’s with the Dodgers now, and he’s thriving out in Los Angeles. What more is there to talk about?
