Dodgers Game Updates vs Rockies: Michael Grove Gets the Surprise Start at Coors Field
The Dodgers are riding high after a Clayton Kershaw masterpiece against the Rockies in Colorado on Tuesday. LA opened the three game series in Denver with a 5-0 shutout on the back of 6 one hit innings by the ace. He did complain of some sort of fatigue or potential health issue after completing his 6th inning, giving the Dodgers something to monitor.
But, for game two the boys in blue are running out Michael Grove (0-2, 7.59 ERA) who’s getting the surprise start against Rockies ace left-hander Kyle Freeland (4-8, 4.54 ERA).

Pitching Matchup
Michael Grove gets the unexpected start for the Dodgers. It figures to be less of a traditional start but he’ll figure to be in the game as long as he’s effective against the Rockies. Grove has allowed 12 runs over his last 14 innings as a starter. He’s faced Colorado twice in his career, posting a 7 ERA in 2 starts. This will be his first start at Coors Field.
Kyle Freeland has done relatively well against the Dodgers in his career, considering he most often pitches against them in Colorado. The left-hander is 5-9 with a 4.38 ERA in 21 career starts vs LA.
