Dodgers’ Gavin Stone, Michael Grove Make Seoul Travel Roster

The Los Angeles Dodgers have announced that pitchers Gavin Stone and Michael Grove have each made the team’s travel roster to Korea for the Seoul Series, via The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya. Stone and Grove will join Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow, who will get the first two regular season starts for the team. Glasnow will get the opening start for the team on March 20, while Yamamoto will follow him and start on March 21. Bobby Miller will likely get one of the two exhibition game starts.

Though the Dodgers have not officially named who their fifth starter in the rotation will be, this will be a great opportunity for either Stone or Grove to seal their spot. Stone has gained momentum through Spring Training so far, impressing the team and fans with a 0.93 ERA.

James Paxton Will Not Travel to Korea

The other announcement was that the Dodgers will not be bringing free-agent pitcher James Paxton, who the team signed to a one-year, $7 million deal this offseason as part of their huge offseason. Since the Dodgers have limited travel space, Paxton will be one of the players to remain in Arizona and continue his preparation.

Paxton wasn’t going to pitch in the exhibition or regular season games, so it makes sense to keep him back and allow him to get ready for the start of the season in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers and San Diego Padres can bring 31 players on their traveling roster to Seoul. Only 26 can be active for the two regular season games, but the other five are allowed to participate in the three exhibition games.
