Dodgers’ Gavin Stone Revealed What Was Working in Dominant Start vs Toronto
When right-hander Gavin Stone was named to the starting rotation at the start of the season, it was met with all sorts of praise. Stone was brilliant during Spring Training, earning his spot within the pitching staff for Opening Day.
Since then, Stone has seen a little bit of ups and downs but in recent games, he has looked the part. In his latest outing against the Toronto Blue Jays, Stone dominated them by throwing seven innings. He allowed just two hits and one run while striking out two batters.
It was a great all-around game for Stone and he kept the Toronto bats in check. The young right-hander spoke after the fact about what was working, reflecting on his incredible performance, specifically with his changeup.
“If I can minimize my use on the changeup, then flash it in good spots, it helps all around. It helps all my pitches. It’s a good feeling knowing that I can still get outs without that.”
Stone is one of the brighter young pitchers that the Dodgers have and he has been showing what he is capable of lately. On the year, he has made five starts, throwing 25 innings and posting an ERA of 4.58.
If he can continue these types of outings, the Dodgers will be in great shape as they go through the long, grueling season. He has been everything that the team believed he could be so far and the hope is that he can continue going strong to help elevate Los Angeles down the line.
