Dodgers Have High Hopes for a Bounceback Year From Blake Treinen
The Dodgers are expected to get back one of their more relied-upon members in the bullpen for the 2024 season, as veteran relief pitcher Blake Treinen is expected to be fully ready to go for Spring Training. He missed the entire 2023 season while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, but now he is ready to go.
General Manager Brandon Gomes provided an update on the reliever at the GM Meetings, and LA is very hopeful about what he can bring to the table.
Treinen was the only pitcher that the Dodgers picked up an option for this winter, and now they will try to maximize his abilities out of the bullpen. He will make just one million next season, giving LA a true bargain pitcher.
The LA bullpen was very good in the second half of the season this last year, but getting Treinen back should only help. He has been a trusted member of the staff since joining Los Angeles, and manager Dave Roberts is likely very happy with this news.
He tried to return toward the end of the 2023 season but was shut down after a few rehab outings. It was due to a setback with the shoulder, and LA wanted to make sure that he was healthy for the start of next season.
The veteran can now take the entire offseason to get himself back into shape for the new year, and he is likely itching to get back out on the mound. He is a competitor through and through, so it will be great to see him back out there for the team.
The hope is that he can remain healthy next season and be a consistent presence out of the bullpen. They will need him all year, as they try to capture another World Series title.
