Dodgers Injury Update: Justin Turner Could Make Return Next Series

In his pregame interview on Sunday, Dodgers manager, Dave Roberts gives word that it’s likely Justin Turner will return for series against the Nationals after experiencing abdominal pain.

When JT was pulled from the game Thursday night, fans were left wondering if it was just a minor ache and he would be back next game or if it was something more series that would land him on the IL alongside Chris Taylor.

For now, Roberts said they will take it day by day and evaluate and assess the pain each day. Although the third basemen did not make a return for the rest of the series against the Giants, they hope he can make an appearance this upcoming week and Roberts claimed it is likely that he will avoid the injured list.

While Turner has been out, LA has turned to Max Muncy full time at third base and has primarily turned to Jake Lamb as the designated hitter. On Friday night, Lamb went 1-for-3 scoring on a grand slam from Cody Bellinger and chipped in with two hits, a run batted in, and two runs scored in the 7-4 Dodger victory.

Prior to his injury, the veteran third baseman and DH was batting .256 scoring 41 runs on 79 hits across 308 plate appearances. His OBP is .330 and with Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, and Freddie Freeman all on a hitting tear right now, it would be good for RedTurn2 to get back in there and collect some big hits of his own soon.
