Dodgers: Joe Davis in October, A Silverlining for LA Fans
We all know our very own Joe Davis was destined to be great as the “Voice of October Baseball.” It’s what he dreamed of doing since he was a kid and now he’s finally making those dreams a reality.
Although the Dodgers got bounced in the NLDS, a piece of us continues onto the World Series. Davis has been play-by-play announcer for the team since 2016, following the legendary Vin Scully.
This year, Fox selected Davis to be the postseason commentator and we couldn’t be happier for him. We just wish it was LA he was commentating for in the championship.
On Sunday afternoon, the Phillies clinched their spot in the World Series after defeating the Padres 3-1 in the NLCS. In the eighth inning of Game 5, Bryce Harper hit a two-run go-ahead homer that solidified the team’s 4-3 win.
Right after that ball made contact with Harper’s bat, Joe Davis knew where it was going.
“It’s up in the air, left centerfield, Harper, the swing of his life!”
His call instantly went viral all over Twitter as both LA fans and MLB fans in general felt like his description of the hit was spot on. At least something good to come out of this postseason (and of course the Phillies sending the Padres home).

This is Harper's moment and I couldn't be happier for him. But I would like to call out Joe Davis' call. What a call in the moment, and letting the moment breathe afterward. Just a perfect baseball moment all around. https://t.co/SwHXNdAWWX

But that’s not the first call he’s gotten some love from this postseason.
For the broadcasting appreciators out there: Really impressed with Joe Davis, as a national voice, rising to the big moments in this series.
Elevated, controlled – you can feel his appreciation for great plays, regardless of team.?? https://t.co/qLdeuOuUsO

We’re very lucky to call Davis one of our own and we’re so proud of him to be able to get this opportunity. He deserves it. Good luck at the World Series, Joe and keep having fun.
