Dodgers: Justin Turner Breaks Slump in a Big Way

We’re calling this one an angry win for the Dodgers. One day after the Pirates came out and basically shut down their offense, Los Angeles came roaring back to life. Their bats put up a staggering 11 runs and rolled past Pittsburgh to even the series at a game apiece.

But one guy who really needed to have himself a game was Justin Turner. JT had gone 2-for-24 to start the month of May and really looked to be struggling at the plate. So when the Dodgers third baseman doubled to center in the first, he was already off to a great start.

But JT would go on to add 3 more hits in this one. Of his 4 total hits in the game, 3 of them were doubles. He also drove in 4 runs for the Dodgers and scored a pair of runs. It was exactly the game that Turner needed with the way things have been going.

But Turner was hardly the only one to have himself a game. Edwin Rios hasn’t had much playing time lately, but he added 3 more hits in the win, including another homerun. Trea Turner and Gavin Lux also finished with multi-hit games.

Tony Gonsolin went 5 innings and did not get tagged with a run. Gonsolin punched out 5 batters and issued 4 walks, but also just gave up one basehit. Up next, the Dodgers will send out Ryan Pepiot to make his big league debut against the Pirates on Wednesday morning.
