Dodgers: Ryan Pepiot to Start on Wednesday In Pittsburgh

The Dodgers will be promoting one of the top prospects on Wednesday afternoon. In the final game of the series against the Pirates, Ryan Pepiot will be making his big league debut. Dave Roberts said before the game on Tuesday that Pepiot would be out there to debut.

The 24-year-old righty will take the mound just a 6-hour drive from his hometown of Indianapolis. The Dodgers’ second-best pitching prospect has had a heck of a start to the 2022 season, appearing in 6 games and dominating along the way.

Pepiot has been traveling with the team on their taxi squad since they got into Pittsburgh. The Dodgers have yet to announce a roster move, but that should be coming in the morning. Expect either Blake Treinen or Victor Gonzalez to be shifted to the 60-day injured list to make room for him on the 40-man roster.

Other Dodgers News

The Dodgers will once again be without Will Smith in the lineup on Tuesday afternoon. Smith got the day off on Monday night and was not in th lineup again today. Dave Roberts said that he is dealing with soreness in his pectoral muscle, but he is expected to make his start tomorrow in the final game of the series.

In other injury news, the Dodgers seem to have caught a break with Chris Taylor. The utilityman fouled a ball off of his knee on Monday night and had to come out of the game when they went back out on defense. But for the moment, things are trending in the right direction.
