Dodgers fans have to be missing Kenley Jansen at this point. And that’s something many fans in Los Angeles probably didn’t think they would be saying this year. It was an amicable split when Jansen went out and signed a free-agent deal this offseason.
The relationship had grown tiresome between Dodgers fans and Kenley, and it was time for a change. That ended up being the team bringing Craig Kimbrel via trade to Los Angeles. And so far, it’s looking rough.
Yes, Kimbrel has only blown 1 save and locked down 12 of them. But it’s those non-save opportunities that have been killing the Dodgers. Sunday afternoon once again presented a big problem. Kimbrel gave up 2 runs in the 9th inning in a tie game and Cleveland walked away with the win.
After that, Kenley had a very interesting post on his Instagram page. It came after a Dodgers fan posted a meme about missing Kenley, and he reposted it.
It’s gotta feel a little good for Kenley to have Dodgers fans missing him. They certainly didn’t fully appreciate his dominance while he was in Los Angeles, especially towards the end of his time here. And it’s not necessarily that he’s rooting for the team’s failure, but it’s easy to see why he would have a little smile.
For Kimbrel, it was just another really bad outing for him. But Dave Roberts has no intention of going with another guy in the 9th inning. He said after the game that Kimbrel will remain the Dodgers closer.
