Dodgers: Los Angeles Designated Yadier Alvarez For Assignment
The Dodgers will not be getting a comeback story that they were hoping for this Spring Traning. Many fans were hoping to see Yadier Alvarez back in a Dodgers‘ uniform, but that may not happen. Los Angeles designated Alvarez for assignment on Saturday afternoon.

Officially, the right-hander was reinstated from the restricted list, then DFAd by the club.
This comes on the heels of news that Alvarez was shut down and would receive more testing. He was supposed to come into the game on Friday afternoon, but could not get loose in the bullpen. As a result, he ended up being a very late scratch in that game.
UPDATE
According to a source, #Dodgers pitching prospect Yadier Alvarez, who was reinstated from restricted list and designated for assignment today, suffered a shoulder injury while warming up to pitch on Friday. Not sure of the severity but it didn't sound good.

Los Angeles would have had to make a decision on him quickly regardless, with him coming off of the restricted list. The Dodgers would have needed to add him to the 40-man roster by Opening Day, and the roster is already tight.
