Dodgers’ Mookie Betts Nominated For Sports Emmy Award
Baseball? Check.
Bowling? Check.
Podcasting? Why not.
Mookie Betts is 19 episodes deep into hosting “On Base With Mookie Betts,” a YouTube show and podcast series in which the Dodgers’ superstar interviews current MLB players, focusing on their lives on and off the field.
Produced by Bleacher Report, Betts’ series has generated plenty of subscribers and interest from fans and peers alike. His most recent episode was a sit-down show in front of a live audience with Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson.
Now, the series has generated something new for Betts: A Sports Emmy nomination.
Betts’ competition for the award includes another athlete (soccer player Carli Lloyd), an ex-coach (Jay Wright) and three professional broadcasters (Noah Eagle, Taylor Rooks). Betts is easily the most active athlete among them, lending further credibility to his reputation as one of the hardest-working athletes in any sport.
Another of Betts’ recent guests? Teammate Freddie Freeman:
The winners of the Sports Emmy Awards will be revealed May 21.
