Dodgers News: Alex Reyes Reveals Target Date for Return

The Dodgers made an under-the-radar signing last week when they signed 2021 All-Star reliever Alex Reyes

Reyes signed a one-year, $1.1 million with the Boys in Blue. The deal also includes a club option for the 2024 season that is worth $3 million.

The signing for Los Angeles is a low-risk, high-reward signing for someone who was one of the better relievers just two seasons ago. Reyes has been plagued with injuries throughout his career and is still recovering from shoulder surgery after not pitching at all in 2022.

Our very own Doug McKain had the chance to catch up with the Dodgers newest reliever and asked when Dodger faithful could see him on the mound.

“Right now, I’m feeling good. Taking it day by day, playing catch to 90 feet. We have a timetable set for June- July, but you know anything can happen just kind of attacking it day by day and take it one step at a time. “

When healthy, the 28-year-old is one of the better relievers in the league. Throughout his career, he has a 16-11 win-loss record with a 2.86 ERA, 177 strikeouts, and a 1.34 WHIP in 145 innings pitched and 101 games.

The Dodgers don’t have a solidified closer going into this season compared to seasons past; they will most likely close by committee. However, if Alex can come in looking healthy and like his 2021 self, he can very well find himself on the hill in the ninth innings more times than not.

We cannot wait to see Reyes don that Dodger blue and get some punchouts for Los Angeles when that time comes.
