Dodgers News: Amed Rosario Joins Yasiel Puig, Manny Machado and Others on Unexpected Franchise RBI List

The midseason addition of Amed Rosario is paying off for the Dodgers already and paying off in a big way.

When news broke that underperforming Noah Syndergaard was on the move to the Cleveland Guardians for underperforming Amed Rosario many fans didn’t bat an eye. The biggest surprise of the trade was that the Dodgers got anything for a pitcher that was most likely never going to pitch for the club in any meaningful games anyways.

Well just over 10 days since that trade has happened, and it is looking like the steal of the deadline. In just six games with his team, Rosario has put himself on a short list of instant-impact players for the team out of Chavez Ravine.

While this list may have some very random names on it, looking at you Justin Ruggiano, the fact that the 2023 trade piece Amed Rosario shares a list with rookie sensation Yasiel Puig and the outfielder that took LA to Mannywood says something.

How valuable has Rosario been?

To put it in perspective; in 94 games with the Guardians this year, the 27-year-old infielder has a -0.2 WAR, meaning he cost the team fewer wins by him being on the field. In just six games with the Dodgers, the speedy veteran has a 0.4 WAR while hitting .333 with a .935 OPS.

To demonstrate how impressive 0.4 WAR is in 6 games, if Rosario were to keep up this pace over an entire season of 162 games, he would have 10.8 WAR. That is the highest WAR in baseball, in a season, since 2018 when Mookie Betts had a 10.9 WAR on his way to his MVP award.

The 27-year-old infielder is making plays at the plate and in the field, and with how he’s playing right now. Rosario will look to help the Dodgers make a long run in the postseason that ends with them hoisting the World Series trophy.
