Dodgers News: Amed Rosario Praises LA Organization in Guardians Reunion

The Dodgers shocked the baseball world at the trade deadline when they acquired infielder Amed Rosario from the Cleveland Guardians in a one-for-one trade for RHP Noah Syndergaard.

Rosario was a below-average player with Cleveland, but trading a below-average arm in Syndergaard who likely wouldn’t have thrown another pitch for LA this year felt like win enough.

If Rosario was able to bring anything to LA, it would’ve felt like a successful trade. The fact that he’s brought above-average defense (despite below one of the worst defenders in baseball) and has brought timely hitting has been a huge bonus.

Rosario told Kirsten Watson of SNLA through an interpreter ahead of Tuesday’s return to Cleveland that he’s very happy to be in Los Angeles.

“It’s really exciting. I feel really good about being here,” Rosario said. “Obviously, I’m very grateful for the Cleveland organization and everything they did for me. But I’m also grateful for the Los Angeles Dodgers trading for me. It’s just really exciting to be back.”

He also talked about what he’s seen being on a team as top-tier as the Dodgers.

“It’s been super impressive to be able to be on this team. To be able to play with so many great players, so many superstar players, and to be able to contribute the way that I have has been really great.”

Rosario is hitting .237 with three home runs, 12 RBIs and an OPS of .708 in 60 plate appearances with LA. In 410 plate appearances with Cleveland this year, he had three home runs with an OPS of .675.

After making 11 errors and having -15 defensive runs saved above average in Cleveland, he has zero errors in LA with 0 defensive runs saved above average at second base, a new position. Sounds like a win to me.

Rosario didn’t appear in the series opener on Tuesday, but he’s in the lineup batting in the eight-hole on Wednesday. We’ll see what he can do in his return to Cleveland.
